Santa Cruz Apothecary Co was born of a desire for deep connection. In April of 2025, my world was flipped upside down when I lost my identical twin sister, Sarah - a fiercely passionate mother, climate warrior, and nature lover, rooted in her faith - after a short two month battle with colon cancer. Sarah was only 40 years old and left behind her loving husband and two young daughters (10 and 7 years old).
In the months following Sarah’s passing, I was quickly guided on a spiritual awakening that grew from my personal faith and led me to the practices of sound healing, reiki, herbalism, and crafting. While my grief craved a real and frequent connection with my sister’s spirit, my body simultaneously broke under the weight of the loss. I faced hospitalizations and surgeries for painful gut issues with no apparent cause other than complicated grief.
For me, the path to both physical healing and deep connection with spirit is through somatic grounding practices and a conscious, loving relationship with the earth. Santa Cruz Apothecary Co is the convergence of the practices I’ve depended on for survival through the darkest night of my soul. This is a company committed to sustainable development and an offering of intentional healing for both the body and spirit, founded in loving memory of my sister, Sarah.
Sarah’s departing wish to her family was that they live by the values of kindness, peace, grace, and joy. These are the values on which Santa Cruz Apothecary Co is founded. And these are all experiences I have found in the garden.
